Days after dropping the massive bomb of his resignation from the PGA Tour Policy Board, Rory McIlroy is in Dubai to play at the DP World Tour Championship. It is the season-ending event of the European Tour. Expectations are high from Rory especially after he declared that he stepped away from the Board to concentrate on his play and personal life.
However, his endgame at Jumeirah doesn’t seem to be happening well. Looks like he is not in his usual form and is slacking on the leaderboard. But he hasn’t let down his hopes for a revival.

Rory McIlroy hasn’t been able to deliver good results in both rounds. After the second round on Friday, his spot is on 34, and that too, in a tie. This is a surprise for the fans who have seen him playing well in the tournament on previous occasions. He was asked about the same by the media in the press conference.
After the second round, an interviewer asked him, “You’ve shot 66 or better here a dozen times. We know you can go low on this golf course. Do you feel there’s one out there for you tomorrow?”
To this, the Irishman replied, “Yeah, I do. I do feel there is. I hit eight out of nine greens on the front nine and I played nicely and I didn’t putt as well as I did yesterday.” He further revealed exactly what he required to get back in the game. “There is a low one out there and obviously I’m going to need a low one to get myself back in the tournament.”
Despite the outcome of the tournament this week, McIlroy will not be stepping out empty-handed even if he fails, thanks to his winning the Race to Dubai again this year.

Silver lining for McIlroy in the form of Race to Dubai
Despite playing only in nine tournaments on the DP World Tour this year, McIlroy is the winner of the Race to Dubai points. This makes it his fifth time after winning in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2022. He holds 5,164 points in the race and will be taking home a check of $1.5 million.
