Sergio Garcia has a reputation for being in the news. His recent controversy with the DP World Tour is a matter of concern. The Spanish golfer was among the 17 players who joined LIV Golf last year. The news wasn’t taken well by the former league which believed such code of action to be a breach of ethics.

This conduct made the DP World Tour take legal action. A six-figure penalty was imposed on these players by the governing body. However, the latest revelation made Sergio Garcia stick out like a sore thumb. All 16 players except him have paid their due. His recent story showed him focusing on things other than his fine.

In the middle of the media attention, the couple decided to let their philanthropic nature come to light. It would not be the first time we will see them team up for a good cause. Their previous work includes the Central Texas Golf event – a fundraiser for children who belong to different organizations such as Dell Children’s Foundation and Foster Village Austin. This event aimed to promote better health services, well-being, and family support for kids.

This year again the golfer and his wife have announced a similar course of action. Sergio Garcia in his story on Instagram posted, “Back in Austin, raising money for St. David’s Medical School Scholarship with @theangelaakins.” It seems like despite all the complications he has been facing, he is determined to add normalcy to his life. The IG story just proves the same.

However, it might not play well for the 2017 Masters champion if he doesn’t take the DP World Tour’s threat seriously.

The reason for Sergio’s $126K penalty

The DP World Tour, along with the PGA Tour have been engaged in a court battle with LIV Golf. Convincingly, the DP World Tour secured a win over LIV when Sports Resolution’s independent body made the decision that players can be charged with a fine and even suspended for not following the regulations.

As other members of LIV Golf have given a payment of $126,000, Sergio Garcia is yet to take that step. The professional league has announced, “Sergio Garcia has not paid his £100,000 fine, nor has he given any indication that he intends to. We will therefore take appropriate action if he continues not to respect the Sport Resolutions panel’s decision.”

Regardless of withdrawing his name from the original appeal made by the players over the sanction, it seems that Spaniard will not be excused from the penalty.
