The four-time major champion, Rory McIlroy, started dating Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki in 2011. They got engaged, but Rory called off the wedding and broke up with her, and the reason was shocking.

The former No.1 even asked her parents for permission before popping the question, but later, he realized he was not ready for marriage and its aftermath.

But the tables turned, and Rory broke up with Wozniacki. Apparently, she was distracting him. Her presence was making Rory’s game erratic, and he could not focus. Rory announced the breakup days after they sent the wedding invitations out.

According to a source, Rory was missing his practice rounds and spending time with the tennis star Wozniacki. Rory’s game was affected since he started dating Caroline. The source of Rory said, “Rory’s game hasn’t been as consistently good in the time he’s been with Caroline. He was a young guy in love and was flying around the world to see her play in tournaments or meet up with her. He was missing practice rounds. It was a distraction.”

Not just this, his personal life was also in a complicated phase due to all the legal battles with his former management company. It was a long dispute that continued the whole season.

Hard Time for Caroline Wozniacki

As per reports, they had to break up mutually. This was confirmed by the golfer. He said that Caroline and he had a discussion and they mutually landed on this decision. He wished Wozniacki all the happiness.

Even though the decision was mutual, Caroline Wozniacki had a hard time accepting it and moving on. She received support from her friends, family, and fans. She was thankful for it. The tennis star also wrote a tweet while thanking everybody.

According to a tennis source, this breakup gave Caroline a tough time. She was competing in the Roland Garros tournament, which started in Paris. The breakup was tough with all the competition that was coming her way.
