The second round of FedEx cup playoffs was a very intriguing one. And for Hovland who turned professional only four years ago, this was the most memorable match of his career as of yet. On Sunday, he made 7 birdies, finished the closing round with 66, and made two strokes for victory over Scheffler.

Hovland took home the first prize of $3.6 million, while Scheffler had contented himself with the second prize of $1.76 million. This must have put a damper on Scheffler for the moment as he was in the lead for the most of last round. However, it looks like it is Scheffler who has had the last laugh despite being a runner-up at the event.

For this year, Scheffler has topped the highest earning list. He has played in 22 events out of which he has made top-five finishes in 13 events. Moreover, in 2023, he won a total of $21 million in prize money, which is 50% more than his 2022 record, when he earned $13.2 million.

Which is way more than what Hovland has made this year which is $14,112,236. The Norwegian golfer has played 22 events in 2023, made two wins, was a runner-up once, and made eight top-10 finishes. He also did not miss a single cut this year. However, Scheffler had a better year money-wise.
