Making his pro debut in 2016, Bryson DeChambeau took no time in becoming a prominent name in the golf world. However, his move to LIV Golf has rightly taken a hit on his flourishing career. The former US Open champion has bagged a $125 million contract with the Saudi Arabia-backed league. However, his move has pushed him away from one of his most prominent sponsors.

Joining LIV Golf in June this year, DeChambeau received mixed reactions from the golf world. Even though a section backed his move, majority of the golf world lashed out at his decision. Also, a part of the criticizing section was Rocket Mortgage, which took no time to terminate its sponsorship contract with DeChambeau.

As mentioned earlier, making his debut, Bryson DeChambeau climbed the ladder of success quite rapidly. With his scientific approach in place, he won numerous titles and managed to become the World No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
With an impressive and positive-looking career in place, in 2021, DeChambeau signed a sponsorship contract with Detroit-based mortgage loan-providing company, Rocket Mortgage. However, little did the two know that what looked like a long strong partnership would soon become a thing of the past.

Days after DeChambeau’s move to LIV Golf, the $13 billion company issued a press release, stating the contract termination. “Our partnership with the PGA Tour extends to include several prominent golfers, including Bryson DeChambeau, as ambassadors of the Rocket Mortgage brand,” the press release read. “As has been widely reported, Bryson elected to join the LIV Golf Series. Effective immediately, Rocket Mortgage has ended its sponsorship agreement with Bryson.”
While the company terminated its contract with DeChambeau, it continued to take forward its tie with the PGA Tour. Starting in 2019, the company has been the sponsor of the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, in Detroit, Michigan. An event, in which DeChambeau triumphed in 2020.

Four months since the termination, neither DeChambeau nor Rocket Mortgage seems to be taking steps to revive their partnership. Following a series of not-so-pleasant performances, DeChambeau is currently in Bangkok, playing the 6th event of the Saudi Arabia-backed league. On the other hand, Rocket Mortgage continues to work with the PGA Tour and raise funds to eliminate the digital divide in the city of Detroit.
