As LIV works towards establishing credibility in the golf world, some players have had their back by being quite vocal about their support for the league. Unlike some golfers who chose the lucrative golf path and swallowed their tongues after bashing the PGA Tour, a certain veteran has made sure to state his mind whenever asked.
In a recent interview, a LIV pro revealed some close confessions made by the PIF governor himself in Jeddah. While the words will be a breath of assurance for the players, the claims have left the golf world confused about LIV Golf’s professional standing.

Nuclr Golf, in a tweet, reported about Ian Poulter expressing his confidence in the future of LIV Golf. In a recent interview with a media house, Poulter talked about how irrespective of the challenges posed by the uneasy truce with the PGA Tour, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) that finances LIV, assured him that the league would continue beyond 2025.
Nuclr Golf posted a quote from the interview that stated, “I talked to his Excellency last week (at the LIV event in Jeddah), He told me, never mind 2024, 2025 – LIV Golf will go and on…”
Poulter further mentioned how Al-Rumayyan seemed as passionate about LIV’s continuation as he was when they started the project. The golfer also added that Al-Rumayyan loves the concept, the progress, and the impact LIV has made and is making. “You see it throughout the sports world, not only in golf,” he concluded.

The statement has been deemed as a bold take on the player and the association’s behalf considering that not so long ago, allegations around how LIV wouldn’t be able to sustain itself in the professional golf world buzzed the headlines.

The heavy-pocket Saudi-backed LIV has been in a tussle to grab the best of the players in the market. Controversial takes about how players are choosing money over professional success have claimed all top headline spots in the past year. While the accusation processes have been going on, claims about how LIV is not going to succeed have also been parallel.
Allegations against LIV have been intense and based on facts, with the recent one being the denial of OWGR’s position for LIV. In the world of professional golf, OWGR holds a lot of meaning as this standing helps in determining a player’s pro career. Thus, the lack of accreditation by OWGR for the LIV golfers has put them at an immense disadvantage as it affects their chart positions and keeps them from participating in big pro golf events under DPWT and PGA Tour.
