Alan Shipnuck acknowledges the impact of LIV Golf

In 2022, when LIV Golf was in its initial process, Phil Mickelson contacted Alan Shipnuck and shared his thoughts. The 6-time major champion agreed that the PIF league had scary prospects. However, he found it to be the only way PGA Tour will change for the better.

Phil Mickelson called the Tour “manipulative and coercive” and Alan shared his conversation with Mickelson with the world. Lefty got tons of criticism for his comments and he later, through an Instagram post, apologized. But the damage was done. Brands pulled out their deals, and people took Mickelson to be a traitor. 

Shipnuck made a recent tweet talking about the “productive year” Bryson Dechambeau has had and the people were not in agreement. One such person shared Shipnuck’s tweet and commented that “no one cares about LIV Golf”. Alan then explained why he made that tweet. His argument was that despite all the hate LIV Golf gets, it has successfully changed the game of golf and will continue to do so. And he cannot “ignore” their existence. 

Alan was claimed to be responsible for all the backlash Phil got and was “physically removed” from Mickelson’s press conference. Despite all that, it seems that the writer has moved on from the drama. But has he?

Alan Shipnuck’s new book ‘LIV and LET DIE’

After the success of Phil: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorized!), Alan decided to write one more book. This time, it will cover the history of LIV Golf and the secrets behind the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf merger. 

Additionally, the book also has some steamy bits. One portion covers Brooks Koepka calling out and being pissed at Justin Thomas, the other talks about Rory McIlroy’s heartbreak over the merger, and Claude Harmon III accusing Brandel Chamblee of buttering McIlroy and Tiger Woods. The book is likely to have many more revelations.
