Even, Justin Thomas wants it too. You and I and probably every rank-and-file golf fan would love to see Tiger Woods win a title with his son, Charlie Woods. Thomas, too, feels it would be incredible if that happened. In fact, for the American Pro, “it would be No. 1 for special.” But Justin Thomas would also compete for the title, which makes matters a little complicated.
Justin Thomas and Tiger Woods enjoy a brotherly relationship. The two have been paired once again at this year’s PNC Championship, where the two-time Major winner will appear with his father, Mike Thomas. While team Thomas has sniffed the title once, for team Woods, their second-place finish at the 2021 PNC Championship is still their best performance.

For Justin Thomas, seeing Tiger Woods move closer to Jack Nicklaus in terms of achievements would be historic and rank higher than his own Major win. Justin Thomas agrees: “Winning majors is unbelievable, and how he’s won his majors.” Regardless a title with Charlie Woods would mean much more.

Thomas further adds, “(H)ow much he cares about Charlie and having Sam out here and him doing that together with Charlie and as he’s watched him grow up, it would be a very, very different kind of win.” Notably, this year, the veteran golfer caddied for his son at the regional qualifier for the Notah Begay Hill Junior Championship, while recovering from surgery.
Although the PNC Championship is an unofficial event without any FedEx points or any OWGR points, Justin Thomas feels it’s a win “that doesn’t maybe come with the record books and history and whatnot.” But if they win, it’s bad for Thomas. “I know it would suck for us because they would really rub that in our face,” said the 15-time PGA Tour winner in the press conference.

Woods and Thomas have enjoyed a friendship since the 2019 Presidents Cup. Earlier Woods called him a brother he never had and Charlie Woods a brother that Justin Thomas never had. The two teams will tee off together at this year’s PNC Championship.
Expect some next-level trash-talking on the course

Golf fans are once again expecting some elite-level banter between Justin Thomas and Charlie Woods. Woods Jr. like the mannerisms he inherited from his father, has also acquired the veteran’s chirpy side. In 2020, after Justin Thomas hit a poor tee shot, Woods Jr. left a note for him that read, “Draw Hole.”

Thomas, in a recent interview, called Charlie Woods, “a little punk.” But, the two-time Major winner appeared cautious about “giving him a hard time”, as Charlie Woods was already close to beating him up. Speaking on the teenager’s game, the 15-time PGA Tour winner further added, “It’s really cool because, you know, Charlie’s starting to really… I mean, he’s always loved and been obsessed with the game, but he’s starting to kind of develop those skills, and it’s impressive.” Team Woods will tee off with Team Thomas at 8:22 am in the Saturday foursome round.
