Paige Spiranac has often been at loggerheads with American golfer, Bryson DeChambeau. Though she has clarified it as a fun way to tease him, there was a time when both were irked by fan comments on a brewing enmity. However, Spiranac once went out of her way to bet on DeChambeau to win a Major Championship, overlooking a “dangerous” Brooks Koepka.

What did Paige Spiranac say about the odds for the 2020 US Open?

In an episode of her podcast ‘Playing A Round with Paige Renee’, Spiranac stated how a wet forecast would significantly alter the result of the tournament. “It looks like there’s going to be a lot of rain during the week, but it’s going to change the way the course plays,” she said. “It’s going to be playing longer and softer, and a lot of people won’t have the ability to contend this week.”

The social media star also mentioned why long-distance hitters stood a better chance of winning the 2020 US Open championship. “If you look at the past champions, they all tend to be bombers,” she said.

At that moment, few could have looked past Bryson DeChambeau when it came to hitting long-range. Ahead of the tournament, he had reportedly gone past the 400 yard-mark with a brand-new 48-inch driver.

Paige Spiranac’s assessment of Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka

Coming into the event, DeChambeau was yet to win his first Major Championship. “Bryson is carrying it 360 yards at the moment and his ball speed is incredible,” Spiranac said. “He is the man to beat.”

However, she revealed that DeChambeau’s arch-rival, Brooks Koepka, stood a decent chance to challenge DeChambeau. “I will say that Brooks Koepka, with a top-five finish in Houston, that’s pretty interesting,” Spiranac said on her podcast.

Koepka was in tremendous form and looked set to win a third successive PGA Championship in 2020. However, a final day collapse led to a major disappointment for Koepka, which Spiranac felt would fuel his energy towards another championship victory. “I think he is going in there with fire in his belly. Brooks playing with something to prove is a dangerous Brooks.”
