For Rickie Fowler 2024 was one of the worst seasons of his professional career. He began the year by playing at The Sentry in January and finished in the 56th position on the leaderboard. July was the last time he played before going for a 2.5-month-long hiatus to fix his form. At the Open Championship, he dropped down to 71. The 73rd-ranked player on the OWGR list also missed out on the FedEx Cup Playoffs because of his rank.

However, the break must have worked out for him, since Fowler has been doing better in October. After another two-month gap, he is set to return to the Grant Thornton Invitational this weekend along with Lexi Thompson.

Despite the tedious year he has had, Rickie Fowler remains the favorite at the $4 million purse event. At the 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational Rickie Fowler called in a young fan inside the course and played a putting round with him. The PGA Tour took to their official X and Instagram account and shared the heart-melting video a few hours ago. They wrote, Dream come true. @RickieFowler brought a young fan inside the ropes for a putting competition at last year’s @GTInvitational.” Well, that is how generous the PGA Tour pro is, and the fans still love him for that.

Thanks to rectifying his form, and taking the break, Rickie Fowler did manage to come through this season. However, he clarified his one true goal at the moment.

Rickie Fowler only wishes to win a Major

Despite boasting six PGA Tour victories, Rickie Fowler has yet to capture a major championship. His primary goal is to secure a win at one of the sport’s prestigious major events while maintaining solid form throughout the season. Fowler came agonizingly close to a major win at the 2023 U.S. Open, where he posted a final-round 75, finishing 5-under par for a T5 finish. However, he bounced back later in the year, clinching a win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Fowler also notched eight top-10 finishes in 2023, solidifying his position as one of the game’s most consistent players.

“For me being close in majors and then to having some — a few off years, getting back to playing a bit more how I did two seasons ago and just playing some good golf and put myself in position to win tournaments. You know, be nice to be able to have a major, if not multiple, on the resume by the time I’m done with this,” he added.  So why did he take a break from the Tour? It seems he needed to reset, and assess his childhood dream. “If you can remove yourself from a situation because you always want more, but go back and just think about ultimately what I wanted to do as a kid, my dream was just to play on the PGA Tour and win on the Tour,” he added.
