Many great businessmen have proved that a college education is not important to running a successful business. With a clear goal in mind, these businessmen strive for perfection and ultimately emerge successful. Greg Norman is a part of that cohort. Despite lacking a college degree, the ex-golf pro built for himself a huge business empire. He is probably one of the most successful athletes turned businessmen. But how did he manage to pull this off?

The shark had a great golf career but often fell short on the course, narrowly missing out on multiple majors. But after hanging up his clubs, the Australian seemed to have found more success. What began as a regular business is now a multimillion-dollar company with his name on the top.

The shark’s secret to success was very simple: self-belief. In 2019, he told the Morning Read in an email exchange“What I do have is belief in myself, my brand and its reach, and the people who work for me.” Norman claimed that even when others doubted him, he kept looking ahead and kept working towards his goal.

In another interview with the Sports Business Journal in 2015, Norman claimed that his life experiences and the people he met along the way had helped him get to where he was. He said, “I believe my experiences in life, in sport, now in business, [have] been based in relationships and people I know around the world.”

Norman further added, “Those relationships are probably the most valuable thing that I could ever have.” The shark believes that the bonds he has created over time have helped him become successful. “I’m not a college graduate,” he said, and despite that, he had achieved greatness because of his resolve and relationships.

What is Greg Norman currently up to?

The two-time major winner’s business has undoubtedly been successful, and he is now worth about $400 million. But now Norman wants to take the sport of golf to the next level. He is currently the CEO of the Saudi-backed television series LIV Golf and is spearheading their cause.

Just like how he believes in himself, Norman firmly believes that LIV can bring about the change that the sport of golf needs. He once wrote, “I believe in our business model,” and explained that that was the reason he was unaffected by the hate he received.
