LIV Golf has always been popular for its experimental nature. The league took up its golfers without undergoing the selection process that happens in the PGA and other tours. Even the Saudi-backed league has been quite lenient with the cutoffs and paychecks. However, the scenario is probably going to be different from this year on. Many golfers have their careers at stake; an elimination would take place depending on their performance.
Now, one player whose journey in Smash GC is at risk is Brooks Koepka‘s brother Chase. Now, another question arises: Would the elder brother, Brooks Koepka leave the team if his brother left? The question becomes even more interesting when we consider his $4 million win in the LIV Golf Jeddah event.

The LIV Golf Jeddah is a crucial event on Greg Norman’s LIV roster; not only because it is the final individual event but also because the players who are about to get relegated from their respective LIV teams might make another effort to regain their place.
This relegation doesn’t include captains, and hence, Brooks Koepka’s place at Smash GC is not threatened. But what about his brother, Chase Koepka? The situation is quite different for him. The golfer’s name is already in the drop zone with three other LIV golfers.
As the matter was addressed in a presser, Brooks was asked to take his stance on the same. The captain shed light on his responsibility. He said, “There’s nothing I can do. At the end of the day, it’s up to him. I know he’s working hard, he’s been trying, we’ve been practicing together quite a bit, honestly, he’s just struggling a little bit”. Hence, it seems Brooks has accepted the fact and is preparing himself for the worst.

A selection process was much needed for the LIV League. Since they didn’t have it before, the OWGR association rejected them from identifying as a proper golf league.

Around the month of September, the LIV golfers, like Sergio Garcia and other LIV loyalists, signed a petition to the OWGR association. The letter stated a claim to be included in the points system. The chairman of the board, Peter Dawson, gave dwindling hope to the golfers that their request was under consideration. But later, the results that followed shattered their dreams completely.

A few days ago, the news said that their plea was unanimously discouraged and rejected without a proper explanation. As the association was further questioned, they backed the decision with a vague explanation, stating that they didn’t agree with LIV’s selection process and format, hence the decision was taken. A letter about this was sent to CEO Greg Norman as well.
