Paige Spiranac, the social media sensation, disclosed earlier this year one of the most anticipated face-offs. Ultimately, the competition was scheduled at the Geneva National on Monday, June 5. Prior to the event, tickets sold out completely for both the ground pass and the inside-the-rope pass. Since it was a charity match, these vast numbers meant a profitable collection for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Heart of Lion.
Alas! A major setback greeted the Instagram icon before she had even stepped onto the field. This implied bad news for the anticipated match as well. People had come to watch the two icons, Paige Spiranac and John Daly, contest against each other, but with how the events had unfolded, it seemed unlikely. However, amid the dense negativity, the gorgeous golfer still managed to focus on the silver lining as she took on the greens.

The last-minute disappointment that nodded at fans and Paige Spiranac was Daly’s withdrawal from the Beauty vs. Beast match. This spelled terrible news for the charity event, as hundreds of tickets had already been sold. With ‘Wild Thing’ being the fan favorite, his absence did cast a big question mark on the anticipated game.
However, the letdown was soon replaced with good news, and the event was able to take off. Instead of the two-time major champion, the seat opposite Spiranac as a competitor was filled by Jerry Kelly. The three-time PGA Tour winner definitely ameliorated the situation.
The post-match evening witnessed the golf social media celebrity take to Twitter and share her input on the same. Spiranac tweeted, “Today was supposed to be my match against John Daly. When he didn’t show, Jerry Kelly filled in. Jerry made 10 birdies and 2 eagles today. It was the greatest round of golf I’ve ever witnessed.” The gorgeous golfer’s post implied that she really did enjoy the game of golf on the greens with Kelly, who managed to strike some exceptional shots.

The best thing about the upsetting turn of events was that they were still able to raise money for charity. It is a relief that the actual purpose of the match was still fulfilled. Spiranac continued, “We raised a ton of money for charity and I’m not too mad with the 66 I shot. What a great day at Geneva National!” In accordance with her tweet, she managed to focus on the ray of hope amid the disheartening news, which reflects part of the social media star’s personality.
The reason behind John Daly’s withdrawal from his face-off against Paige Spiranac
According to Wisconsin Golf, Daly informed the event organizers about his health issues. This information was communicated the night before, on Sunday. As per the reports, sciatica and knee pain had intensified for the professional, making it difficult for him to participate in the game the next morning.
Unfortunately, that same news was only delivered to Spiranac the next day, i.e., the day of the event, 2 and a half hours before it began. To one of the comments under her initial tweet, she replied, “Was told at 8 am the day of the event which started at 10:30 am he couldn’t come or even ride around because of an injury.” Moreover, she wished for the veteran golfer’s quick recovery.

The 57-year-old golfer has suffered from severe health problems before as well. Earlier in the month of May, the golfer had to call off his plans as he was scheduled to undergo knee surgery. Before this, Long John even went through with a full knee replacement surgery in December 2022, which was successful.

Even though the veteran golfer is struggling with his health, we are hoping for him to feel better soon! Ultimately, despite all the hurdles, Spiranac was able to pull off a successful charity event, and that is all that matters! The social media icon delivered positively on the field in spite of a setback. Kudos to that!
