Is Bryson DeChambeau coming back to the PGA Tour? The golf giant has a tendency to be a part of the headlines one way or another. Whether it’s through his bizarre golf techniques or unbelievable collaborations, DeChambeau knows how to grab attention. While fans and the rest of the community were hesitant about “the mad scientist,” they have grown to love him over time. Lately, his popularity has been soaring!
Despite his involvement in LIV Golf, Bryson DeChambeau is admired by the majority of golf fans globally. So it is quite obvious that the PGA Tour is taking advantage of his marketability. DeChambeau is the only LIV Golf player to feature in the teaser of the iconic golf series, Full Swing Season 3. Netflix released the trailer for the upcoming season of the web series a few minutes ago. It gave the fans a glimpse at what they can expect in Season 3.
To everyone’s surprise, DeChambeau was also part of the PGA Tour’s show. But the few clips of him only showed him performing on the course. While not many picked up on that, famed golf journalist Josh Carpenter clarified, “For what it’s worth, was told Bryson’s team declined sit-down interviews for the show. His appearance is mostly based around the U.S. Open.” This confirms that, unlike other pros, DeChambeau won’t be seen commenting on the moments featuring him in Season 3 of Full Swing. Interestingly, the Netflix series was once believed to have healed the wounds caused by Bryson DeChambeau and Co. at The Showdown. But it’s great to see that the 31-year-old was at least approached to appear on the show.

However, it does raise the question, why did DeChambeau’s team decline the interview? Let’s learn what the LIV Golf player had to say about it.

Why did Bryson DeChambeau decline the opportunity?
Bryson DeChambeau has a magnificent presence in the digital landscape. The 2024 U.S. Open winner owns one of the most successful YouTube golf channels in the world. Golf fans often eagerly anticipate DeChambeau’s new videos and delicately follow his social media for any updates. So there is no question that Season 3 of Full Swing would have hugely benefited from having “sit-down interviews” with Bryson DeChambeau.
But the 31-year-old has been somewhat hesitant in giving controversial interviews. Even back in 2022, DeChambeau refused to interact with the media when he knew that he would face a lot of slack for losing to Brooks Koepka in their exhibition match. Later, he did speak up about his hesitance to give a statement by saying “I just felt like, ‘I don’t need any of this. Why? Why put myself through all this torture?'” in an interview with the New York Post.

Interestingly, HANDICAP 54 also had another theory to the situation when they responded to Carpenter’s tweet. They said, “Brett Falkoff, his agent, HATES the press.” This suggests that it was Falkoff who advised DeChambeau against the interview. Further criticizing the agent, the tweet also said, “But Brett Falkoff is interested in growing his pocket: something contrary to growing world golf, as they say now.” It’s also possible that Bryson DeChambeau may have not been aware of the opportunity before it was lost.
The PGA Tour may have nearly gotten DeChambeau on board. But does this indicate that the PGA Tour is opening the gates for LIV Golf players now? Share your opinions in the comments section.
