One of golf’s biggest stars, Jack Nicklaus, has taken the spotlight once again. But this time, it’s not because of his on-course performance. There is no doubt in the fact that other than being the GOAT in professional golf, Nicklaus has built a separate fanbase for his staggering statements during interviews.
Not to mention, fans absolutely love the golf legend for his unfiltered and unapologetic words during media interactions. Nevertheless, staying true to his rather free-spoken side, Nicklaus recently took a dig at LIV Golf rebels with just days to go for the $20 million Memorial Tournament. And it had everything to do with their money-led decision!

Jack Nicklaus fires shots at LIV Golf defectors
Nicklaus has always been the biggest supporter of the PGA Tour. And it simply makes sense because he played a vital role in promoting the game of golf through the American League. Hence, it is safe to say that his outlook toward the tour’s biggest rival, the LIV Golf circuit, is not very positive.

Noticeably, the 18-time major winner has made several statements about the LIV Golf vs PGA Tour controversy in the past. But this time, he drew his arrows towards the players who flew away to join the breakaway league for the hefty paychecks. “I think the guys who have stayed on the PGA Tour, for the most part, are guys who play golf for the game of golf,” said the Golden Bear.
Nicklaus also talked about how during his prime years, his only focus was playing good golf. “I was all about how good I could be in the sport and the money just took care of itself. Some guys might not really care about playing golf, they’re just pretty good at it. It’s a means to an end to them. And if that’s what it is, that’s fine.” Well, the golf legend seems to have a clear viewpoint toward LIV Golf stars and their priorities between money and legacy.

Does Jack Nicklaus dislike LIV Golf players?
During his statements, the golfer was asked if LIV Golf stars should be allowed to come back to the PGA Tour, which he was completely against. But while he denied the return of these players to the American League, he also mentioned being at peace with them as professional golfers.

“I don’t have any issue with any of those guys,” he said. “I see six or seven of them who are members at the Bear’s Club (Nicklaus’s Florida club). It’s not an issue. They get along with the guys fine.” Notably, it’s safe to say that the player doesn’t hold any personal grudges against The Saudi pros for their money-led decision!
