Wise was preparing to play in the tournament, when he woke up to find that his car had been broken into and his clubs were gone. The golfer was playing at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio on the 27th of June. Following this, he returned to his hotel and kept his golf clubs in his car at the hotel. The next day when he woke up and went to get his clubs, he found out that they were gone!

To share the same, on 5th July, Golfweek took to Twitter and broke the news. The post read: “This amateur making his major debut had his clubs stolen from a parking lot before the U.S. Senior Open”

Wise was understandably upset by the theft, but he didn’t lose hopes of playing in the tournament. According to him, he was playing amazingly before this incident took place. For the unknown, he had qualified for the tournament by shooting a 67 in Hot Springs, Virginia in the qualifier.
