Lately, the PGA Tour has become a hotspot for entertainment. First came the whopping, huge controversy related to the PGA-LIV merger. Following that, Jay Monahan came under increasing scrutiny for keeping the union secret. Finally, came the Tour’s move to tend to the looming animosity last Tuesday by appointing Tiger Woods to the board.

As the golf legend assumed control over the policy board, he affirmed to everybody that, from now on, things would only get better. The golfer looked to represent the players on the Tour and ensure that the goals the PGA Tour set reflected the needs of the pros. However, he’s not been on the board for less than a week, and the Tour has seen a tragedy.

Mere days remain before the final stage of the PGA Tour 2023 season, a.k.a. the FedEx Cup playoffs, begins. And shadowing all that hype, a recent report by Golf Digest came to light. As per the report, a PGA Tour senior official unexpectedly resigned yesterday, August 8, 2023. This high-ranking member of the PGA Tour’s leadership team is none other than Andy Pazde.

Pazde Tour’s Chief Tournaments and Competitions Officer handled the events for the firm. He had been with the firm for nearly 30 years. The players were informed about his departure via email yesterday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship before a players’ meeting scheduled for 4 p.m.

The ex-Tour Chief, however, was far more integral to the Tour than just his role as the head of the Tournaments. He was also a part of two other committees on the Tour, and his abrupt resignation will undoubtedly leave a void to be filled.

Two weeks before this crucial decision surfaced, Andy Pazder was a member of two important committees as the Tour resumed its partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The first was a task force to decide on the penalties LIV defectors would face if they intended to return to the PGA Tour and resume their old positions. The three-person task force consisted of Pazder, Jason Gore, and Neera Shetty.
