A couple of days ago, Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland, was confirmed for the European Team in Ryder Cup 2023. He is arguably one of the finest golfers who is rapidly gaining recognition. Therefore, his TGL invitation was sincerely expected.

The innovative golf league, however, has not received a confirmation or declination from the 25-year-old player. When speaking to Eurosport, Hovland said, “I haven’t really thought about it much.” He also explained that since he plays a significant number of golf games on simulators in his home country. He didn’t entirely dismiss the idea, but he admitted his lack of excitement as opposed to most honored golfers.

He did say that he is thinking about it but added that “there is no urgency.” It is now a game of ‘wait and watch.’ An invitation to join legendary golfer Tiger Woods and his compatriot Rory McIlroy in the hand-picked group of players that includes Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, and 6 others, is an honor. Fans just have to wait and see if Hovland accepts joining the other legends in the making on the breakthrough league.

Given how the league is about to set out in January 2024, Hovland is in no rush to make a decision.

Viktor Hovland manages to make headlines again

The young golfer has been a spectacular addition to the PGA Tour. After setting several records as an amateur and playing in the Masters as the first Norwegian, he went on to become the World No. 1 Amateur. Upon turning pro, he took down Bob Este’s long-standing record of 17 consecutive 60s with his personal 19 consecutive scores.

Not only is Hovland a legend on the PGA Tour, but also on the Ryder Cup where he was the first Norwegian to play the prestigious event. He currently ranks 6th on the OWGR and his finesse with the golf club overshadows his groundbreaking sense of style, which has been heavily scrutinized. Still, Viktor Hovland is one of the most composed and calm golfers on any circuit.
