The DP World Tour’s actions have been making things hard for LIV Golf players. And their latest actions included an attempt to ban the Saudi professionals from entering their tournaments due to them playing in the LIV opener last year. However, even after several months, the decision regarding the ban is still pending. And according to the latest update by Golf Monthly, it is going to take even longer to reach the final verdict. As a result, it has added to the uncertainty of LIV Golf players’ presence in the Ryder Cup.
Delayed LIV Golf and DP World Tour decision makes things unpredictable for upcoming Ryder Cup
LIV Golf has been facing lots of hardships before it can fully establish itself as an identified and respected league. And most of these issues are coming from its competitors and their players. Both PGA Tour and DP World Tour have been against having LIV Golf players participate in any of their events. However, the latter could not stop the Saudi golfers from entering tournaments last year as a result of delayed verdicts from the court.

However, things are no different now for the DP World Tour as the final verdict for the case has been delayed yet again. February’s Arbitration Panel Hearing at Sports Resolutions in London’s final decision is reportedly going to “drag on longer than expected”. According to Daily Mail’s Chief sports feature writer Riath Al-Samarrai, the decision is expected to be released in the next 2-4 months. The players and organizations were expecting to hear the final verdict in just two-three weeks after the panel hearing in February.

Several players were denied to play at the Centurion Club LIV Golf tournament, but decided to participate anyway. And that led to the DP World Tour trying to impose a ban along with a fine on these players. But the delay in the decision is causing much more trouble than it seems. Ryder Cup captain, Luke Donald, is now probably in a confused state about if he will have LIV defectors on board in the European team.

The players will consist of six automatic qualifiers along with six wildcard picks. But if LIV Golf players are allowed to play in the tournament, the field is going to look a lot different than expected. However, if the final decision is in the favor of the DP World Tour, fans would not be seeing players like Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, and Paul Casey in the Ryder Cup.
