Justin Thomas has been in the headlines for some time now. Lately, all the fame for Thomas has been because of the 2023 PGA Championship. However, prior to the attention due to the second major of the year, the 30-year-old opened up about his own journey with skin cancer at the Wells Fargo Championship. Not only did he talk about his own cancer scare, but the two-time major winner also used the event to spread awareness regarding the disease.

However, over a week later, the golf world seems to be getting serious about raising awareness regarding the global disease. JT’s awareness regarding the ailment seems to get support as Hall of Famer Jack Nicklaus, joins in to fight this global threat.

It has been two weeks since World Number 13’s awareness campaign against skin cancer at the Wells Fargo Championship. Not only did Thomas raise awareness but also revealed his plans to fight against cancer through his own skincare brand WearSPF. Now, days later, ‘The Golden Bear’ has also joined the fight as he takes to social media.

The 83-year-old took to his official Instagram handle and posted a story. On the story, he shared a post by Nicklaus Companies, a page related to the legend that is dedicated to promoting excellence and growth in the game. The post was about some of the biggest facts about skin cancer, according to the American Skin Association.

Among these facts, some were related to how skin cancer is the most common type of cancer, the causes of skin cancer, the mortality rate, the survival rate, and how to reduce the chances of developing melanoma.

When a professional golfer of his stature takes some initiative, it is surely going to grab attention from the golf world. That is exactly what happened. JT’s revelation of a melanoma scare surely has impacted the 18-time major winner to start joining the fight too. Taking such a big health issue to a high level certainly will have an impact and can help save lives and improve health.

Thomas was diagnosed with melanoma about four years ago. In addition, on September 12, 2019, the two-time major champion underwent surgery to remove a melanoma-bearing mole on his left leg. The World No. 13 made the entire golf world aware of this procedure by posting about it on social media. Then, over three years later, JT made the decision to start his own skin care company, WearSPF, in an effort to combat the skin cancer issues. He aimed to help out golfers who spend hours in the sun, putting their skin at risk, and also raise awareness among masses regarding the harmful affects of long term skin exposure.

For this significant project, the skincare company released six items. Sunscreen Spray, Sport Stick, Mineral Sunscreen, Essential Sunscreen, Lip Balm, and After Sun Cleanser, all included in the set. The skincare company also collaborates with the Justin Thomas Foundation. Additionally, a portion of WearSPF’s profits from this relationship go straight to the golfer’s foundation.
