Phil Mickelson has been extremely vocal with his opinions about everything he finds objectionable in the golf world. Although he has landed himself in countless controversies because of his undying habit of speaking out, he seems to be just fine with it.

Notably, he is in the news once again for his open support towards a strong allegation against OWGR. But this time, he didn’t need any words to express his views on the matter. And rather, the golf star did something that clearly showcased what he felt about the issue.

Mickelson was notably the first player to join the LIV Golf League. But his decision came at the cost of thousands of lost fans and much more. However, one of the most important things that the golfer had to give up along with all his Saudi buddies was his access to OWGR points.

Nevertheless, none of these losses have been able to stop Mickelson from putting forward his opinions in front of the world. And he did the same recently after a Twitter user asked for his views on the OWGR vs LIV Golf controversy. However, his approach to voicing his thoughts was a little too brief this time. When the individual asked the golf legend if, in his opinion, OWGR was simply delaying the process of appointing ranking points to the Saudi golfers only to make them weaker, Mickelson simply used a “thumbs up” emoji to reply!

Although he didn’t use any words, Lefty certainly showed clear support for the user’s allegation towards OWGR. And this is not the first time the golf has spoken up on social media in a while. Not to forget, he recently called out USGA Chief Executive Officer Mike Whan over his “we’re not just rushing” comments. In fact, he used a pretty bold approach to defend Talor Gooch in that case and said, “It’s a direct attack on him and his career…Just a d**k move”.

Will LIV Golf players get access to OWGR points in 2023?

Despite Greg Norman’s everlasting efforts, LIV Golf hasn’t been able to get access to world ranking points for its players. And as an obvious result, these pros are consistently losing their spots among the top players in the world. Although they were allowed to make a comeback on the leaderboard at the Masters, it hardly made a difference for most of these players.

Unfortunately, the disappointment for these players continues through the 2023 season. As per a list released by the Official World Golf Ranking in December 2022, only 20 Tours are to receive the valuable ranking points. And it was not very surprising of them to leave LIV Golf out of it.
