The LIV league golfers are presently seen teeing off at the Old White for the Greenbrier Event. Following the conclusion of the second round of the tournament, these golfers took part in a press conference where they discussed their performances. Among the players welcomed on Saturday were Matthew Wolff from Smash GC and David Puig from Torque GC. 

During the press conference, Wolff not only talked about his on-court and off-court experiences but also shared his thoughts on his performance and the expectations of his fans. Currently positioned at T1 alongside David Puig, Wolff is delivering an exceptional performance at the Old White. This resurgence of form brings a wave of optimism for the young player, who has been seeking a tournament victory since his 2019 triumph. After completing his second round, the American professional golfer took the opportunity to discuss his performance in greater detail during the press conference, shedding light on his progress and ambitions.

When asked about his performance, the 2019 3M Open winner stated that he felt he hit the ball well that day. The discussion also touched on the on and off-court moments. Furthermore, the moderator then questioned Wolff about his search for a win since 2019 and whether his skills had improved since then.

To which Wolff had a lot to say. The 24-year-old golfer stated, “I don’t know. Four years ago is a long time ago. Yeah, I feel good. I think at the end of the day — I know we’re young, but we’re here for a reason.” He further continued, “At the end of the day, age is just a number.” The young golfer even confessed that he hadn’t won since 2019 but he had runner-up finishes in several tournaments. Moreover, according to him, in golf, winning is unpredictable. “But it (win) might happen when you don’t expect it,” Wolff concluded.

It is indeed true that Wolff has been struggling to perform at his best in recent events, despite putting in his utmost effort. This lackluster performance even led to negative comments from his team’s captain, Brooks Koepka, following the LIV Valderrama event.

A peek into Brooks Koepka’s comments on Wolff

Following Wolff’s lackluster form at the LIV Valderrama event, Koepka expressed his disappointment. The five-time Major winner stated, “I mean, when you quit on your round, you give up and stuff like that, that’s not competing.” 

Well, this was in regards to his withdrawal from May’s event in Washington DC, right in the middle of the event. Koepka’s further even called him a “talent’s wasted.” After hearing such things from the captain’s side, Wolff wasn’t the only one who felt bad—his fans did too.
