Phil Mickelson, the 53-year-old LIV golf star, has long been associated with a gambling habit, which isn’t news to many. Through his social media platform recently, the LIV golfer shared an introspective look at his betting issues. As the football season approaches, Mickelson acknowledged that while many will be engrossed in the fun, excitement, and playful banter around fantasy leagues and betting outcomes, he intends to distance himself from such activities this time around.
Mickelson admitted he had gone beyond moderation, noting how addiction stripped the joy from situations. Billy Walters recently alleged that the 53-year-old placed bets totaling close to $1 billion on sports events.
In a recent social media post he is seen explaining the technical aspects of the golf swing. Talking about that, he mentions, “What I do notice is as I speed the swing up, I have to change the release point of my golf swing. I use length to create the leverage that I want, so it takes a lot of pressure off.”
At the start of this year, Phil Mickelson had a crushing ball speed of 165mph. Within 2 months he upped that to high 170’s and topping over 180. That’s an incredible jump for a man in his 50’s!

He continues with his swing report, “But, as I do that, I have to change where the release is. But if I speed up, when I get down to the ball the face will be open. So I have to feel like I’m releasing the club a little bit earlier.” He gives a piece of detailed technical knowledge about the speed of his golf swing. But then this happened.

But his scores are putrid. Isn't golf about the score and not ball speed?
