As the sensational news of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf merger came out yesterday, the world has turned upside down with chaos and confusion. After the bombshell was dropped, top members of both the Tours were asked about their opinions on this new deal. And apparently, this new merger has received the approval of golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
In an interview given to the Palm Beach Post, Jack welcomed this decision with open arms. Nicklaus’s approval shocked everyone as it was only a few days ago that he had given a statement that was the polar opposite of his new support.

Prior to the Memorial Tournament, Nicklaus was asked about whether the LIV players stood a chance to play at his tournament to which Nicklaus had some very harsh things to say– “I don’t really consider those guys part of the game anymore and I don’t mean that in a nasty way… or really mean it that way.” He further said that the other players had deliberately made a choice to be there and he doesn’t talk about it.
But as the news regarding the merger came out, Nicklaus took a surprising U-turn with his recent comments expressing that the deal has been accepted and welcomed by him.
In his interview with The Palm Beach Post, he said – “ The last three years have been difficult for the game and the players. I spoke with PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan this morning. He seemed pleased with the arrangement that will once again bring together the best players in the world. I agree that this is good for the game of golf.”

What a surprise. A man who helped take land in Benton Harbor MI for a good course that was willed to the people of the town. Money talks and Jack listens.
