Phil Mickelson has always been on the front line whenever it comes to defending LIV Golf against the world. Despite all the criticism the league has been receiving, Lefty has never failed to come forward and stand for LIV. This often has him in the negative light of the media and the fans.
However, things started to seem a little better as he regained his fans with an epic T2 finish at the Masters Tournament. But apparently, the golfer is involved in the squabble once again on social media. And this time, it’s him against the USGA, and now, Jay Monahan as well!

Phil Mickelson acted as the flag bearer for several PGA Tour professionals who joined LIV Golf. With no regard for leaving behind their legacies, these players allegedly fell for the high-paying offers that Greg Norman made them. However, the controversial decision of joining the Saudi league came at a huge cost for these golfers. But Mickelson, along with most other rebels, has no regrets about leaving the PGA Tour.
In fact, he has consistently defended his commitment to LIV Golf despite all the criticism the league has received. He recently even dragged down USGA’s CEO Mike Whan for allegedly targeting Talor Gooch and his career. “It’s a direct attack on him and his career…Just a d**k move,” he tweeted. Ever since his comments, several fans have been questioning his stance against the USGA.
Notably, a Twitter user recently got involved in the conversation and claimed that if anyone was to blame for the entire squabble, it was Norman. Moreover, the user also tried to shut “collusion” claims after another user accused the USGA of working with the PGA Tour to allegedly destroy LIV Golf.
How does the USGA play out in all this then?
No one left the USGA Tour cuz there is t one.
If they are working with JM to try and stop another Tour, the accurate term is collusion.— Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson) May 7, 2023
However, Lefty, as usual, had a bold response to it. “How does the USGA play out in all this then?” he wrote. “If they are working with JM to try and stop another Tour, the accurate term is collusion.” Well, it looks like the golf star is pointing fingers at the USGA for openly supporting Jay Monahan and the PGA Tour. And according to him, the sole purpose behind their reported “collusion” is to put an end to LIV Golf!

CEO Seth Waugh recently released a statement acknowledging the PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf situation. However, he mentioned that LIV golf players will be part of the field at the tournament to promote strong competition.
