The Masters may have come to a thrilling end, but the drama surrounding the event refuses to die down. After the final round at Augusta, PGA Tour pro, Patrick Cantlay found himself at the receiving end of a lot of flak due to his slow play.

LIV golfer, Brooks Koepka singled out the 31-year-old’s slow pace while relaying his frustrations regarding the Masters. However, Cantlay later hit back at the criticism directed at his play. Now, a new video has come to the surface and golf fans seem to agree with Koepka’s opinions!

Not one to mince his words, the four-time Major champion Koepka called out Cantlay’s group after the Masters ended. Koepka, who failed to maintain his early lead and finished at T2, shared that the group in front of him was brutally slow.

A new video showing Patrick Cantlay’s play from a new angle has now gone viral on Twitter. It is evident from the replies to the video that the golfing world has picked a side. This video from NUCLR GOLF provides a new perspective into Cantlay’s slow-play drama.

Even fans of Cantlay couldn’t defend his play, with one saying that “he plays slow” despite being a great golfer. Another fan relayed their frustration at the golfer, asking the latter to just “hit the damn ball.

 

Some frustrated golf enthusiasts couldn’t stop making a pun out of the World No. 4’s name. Another fan shared that one could “change a tire” before Cantlay got to playing.

Meanwhile, another individual believes that the golfer must be penalized for his actions at the Augusta National. The PGA Tour golfer ended his Masters campaign with a T14 finish, walking away with $333,000 in earnings.

Patrick Cantlay hits back at critics after slow play fiasco

The 31-year-old golfer has now taken a swipe at his critics, revealing a new reason behind the delay. In a press conference ahead of the RBC Heritage event, he shared that Koepka’s group wasn’t the only one that suffered. “I mean, we finished the first hole, and the group in front of us was on the second tee when we walked up to the second tee,” revealed the golfer.

Cantlay, who was a runner-up at the 2022 RBC Heritage event, is a favorite to win this year. Last year, the golfer lost to Jordan Spieth, ultimately walking home with a whopping $872,000 in earnings. Fans will be tuning in this year to see whether the golfer will be able to make a comeback after the slow-play accusations.
