After winning the first-ever edition of the Kroger Queen City Championship last year, Ally Ewing is back on the course to defend the title. After four rounds of 69-64-67-65, the 30-year-old had finished the first season with a total of 22-under 266. It was her third career LPGA Tour victory.
Moreover, she is also a member of the US team for the Solheim Cup. At the press conference ahead of the Kroger Queen City, she talked about the video posted by the LPGA. The reporter asked her about the celebratory video and how she felt when she saw all the celebrities announcing the names of the US team members.
To it, Ewing replied that the whole video was pretty cool. When the announcements came on, she was with Cheyenne Knight, another member of this year’s Solheim Cup. Nick Saban, the American football coach, announced Knight’s name. This made the 26-year-old golfer emotional. ”She definitely almost cried when Nick Saban popped up,” revealed Ewing.
Mike Golic, a former NFL athlete, announced Ewing’s name in the video. Well, we can’t wait to see their performance in Spain. But before that, let’s see what Ewing has in mind about the upcoming Solheim Cup. Move along!

This is the third time Ewing is representing Team USA in the Cup. In the first year, she went as an alternative. She was the substitute for the injured Stacy Lewis in 2019. Next time, in 2021, she played in games as a core team member. But now she thinks she may act more as a mentor for the newcomers.
”I feel like I can step into a little bit more of a role of lending a hand to the rookies and giving them some insight not just on the golf course, but what the week is going to look like as well as just hope to be a good voice,” said Ewing.
