Gabby Lemieux accused her of improperly marking her ball at the seventh green. Her caddy believed that Daniel, after marking the ball places it a lot closer to the hole than it was supposed to be, hence, making her putt easier.
This incident though was not mentioned till after the round was over. According to Monday Qinfo she said, “I knew nothing”. Subsequently, the rules officials were called in to give their decision. Abby Daniel refused that she did anything wrong. Her constant argument was that she marked the ball where it initially laid.
Eventually, she received a two-shot penalty that is imposed on a player for playing from the wrong place. Daniel’s bogey-free 69 became a 71 in a span on minutes. This led to a drop in ranking. Abby Daniel argued that it would have been more decent on Lemieux’s part to inform her of the incident beforehand rather than bringing it up later.
Daniel could not help but feel humiliated as the tag of a “cheater” will now be attached to her for times to come.

However, as the saying goes what goes around comes all the way back around Lemieux was disqualified from the event herself. She faced the harsh punishment for signing the wrong scorecard, a score of 74 instead of 75.
She realized her mistake and went and reported this to the officials this error herself. She wouldn’t have made the cut anyway but she still admitted her mistake to them. She did pin the blame for her negligence on Daniel. She said “I did my part to save the field from a cheater. Unfortunately, I was too consumed with that to realize a score was wrong on my scorecard. I am glad that I noticed it and called myself out.”
