While playing in the major championships is on the radar of every golfer, not all of them could enjoy this great stroke of luck. However, there are some special exemptions available on some tour that allows non-PGA Tour players to play in the major.
And such tournament is the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship where along with the first prize, the winner also gets a spot in the 2024 Masters and Open Championship. And the amateur golfer who has won this lucky draw is opening his heart about it.

With 120 amateur golfers from 37 countries, this year’s Asia Pacific Amateur Championship was an intense battle last week. Held at the Composite course at Royal Melbourne, the competition was a fierce one with the ultimate prize being more than just money at stake. But Australia’s Jasper Stubbs left all behind in his quest.
The 21-year-old, who lives just two miles from the course, managed to beat China’s Wenyi Ding and Sampson Zheng in two extra holes. In the last hole, he narrowly avoided an extended playoff with Ding who missed a par putt and Jason proceeded with it. He later tells in an interview about the moment, “My heart rate was going nuts, I could feel it in my chest.
He continues: “What was going through my head was, ‘Just put a good stroke on it,’ because I’ve seen people miss three-inch putts before. As soon as that putt dropped, my mind went blank, and couldn’t really tell you what I did for the next 20 seconds after that.”
The putt made the hole and he succeeded. With this win, Stubbs has become the fourth Australian winner of the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship.
