The well-known golf-related Twitter account Flushing It posted the video of Koepka and Waugh’s odd interaction. The post’s caption reads as follows: What’s going on with Seth Waugh here. Could he not bring himself to give Brooks a hand shake? Brooks is like “Wtf, man”

Along with Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Dustin Johnson, Koepka was one of the top players to transfer from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf last year. In the past, Waugh has publicly criticized LIV Golf. Some speculated that because of Koepka’s decision, Waugh is still sore with him.

Initially, neither of them made any comments on their viral moment, but Waugh now clarifies the situation and discounts all the concocted ideas.

Golf Channel reporter Todd Lewis, just posted Waugh’s explanation on his official Twitter account. The post’s caption read: “I spoke with PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh today. He told me he’s known Brooks since he was in the eighth grade. He’s always admired and liked Brooks and said he couldn’t be happier that he has his 3rd Wanamaker. As for the perceived awkward encounter:”

Waugh claimed that in the video he was talking about the countless photographs of him and Brooks Koepka that exist, none of which he has ever seen. Both of them giggled at it. Waugh said that he had previously spoken to Koepka five times, and that they had shaken hands following his fantastic victory. There was no awkwardness between the two, and everything was just easy. And those who made it about the LIV issue were certainly mistaken.

The air is now clear, and there is no longer an elephant in the room. The argument between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour will malign golf’s essence in the future, but for now, the least we can do is allow Koepka to enjoy his moment without adding needless controversy.
