Usually, when someone is accused of something, retaliation follows. Moreover, fans love it when their favorite athletes get back at someone with the help of sarcasm. Something like that happened at the Harbour Town Golf Links with Patrick Cantlay. He was accused of playing very slowly ahead of Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm’s group at the Masters. But now, he has done wonders at the RBC Heritage, and his two-word message is an on-point sarcastic reply to the slow-play accusation.
Patrick Cantlay becomes the sarcastic king
During the Masters post-round press conference, Koepka said, “Yeah, the group in front of us was brutally slow. Jon went to the bathroom like seven times during the round, and we were still waiting.” He was referring to the group of Patrick Cantlay and Viktor Hovland. Cantlay was accused of playing slow and ruining the probable victory of Koepka.

The fans were also not happy with Cantlay’s slow play. They suggested that there should be some action against slow players. However, while they were still playing the blame game, the pro golfer took over the Harbour Town Golf Links. Cantlay made his third career hole-in-one on Friday. He posted the video on Twitter and, taking a jibe at ‘slow play,’ wrote, “Playing faster!” He also tagged the PGA Tour and the RBC Heritage.
However, Cantlay tried to specify his side of the story ahead of the RBC Heritage regarding accusations. He said it was slow for everyone, not just Koepka. According to Sports Illustrated, he also explained why it was slow and said, “When you play a golf course like Augusta National where all the hole locations are on lots of slope and the greens are really fast, it’s just going to take longer and longer to hole out.”
How did fans react to the latest fast play?
No one expected Cantlay to make a hole-in-one due to his slow play. However, he proved everyone wrong and did the unthinkable. Nevertheless, not all fans were impressed by his great showcase of skills or his sarcastic jibe.
It’s not a joke, Patrick. You single handedly ruined a final round in which you had no possibility of winning. It’s shameful.
Figure it out.

Fair enough, good banter. Speed of play still an issue though 😴

But some fans took a funny turn and enjoyed the video. They also appreciated Cantlay.
A grade response Patrick, but playing faster is the right message for the entire Tour. 4 hour rounds should be maximum, if managed properly.
