LIV Golf’s 2023 season also gearing up for closure. The upcoming LIV Jeddah event and the subsequent Grand Finale are scheduled back to back. LIV golfers are preparing to maintain or catch up with leadership positions on the table.

Meanwhile, one particular LIV golfer is celebrating a major title win elsewhere and his fellow golfers from the Saudi league couldn’t keep calm. The Spanish golfer posted a picture and wrote a heartfelt message, and the comment section became a LIV golf huddle. Any guesses on whom we are talking about?

The International Singapore Series just got over and it happened in Singapore (Where else?). David Puig, who recently played in the Junior Ryder Cup representing Europe, won the title.

He currently plays for the Asian Tour and LIV Golf. Puig is part of the LIV team Torque GC, captained by Joaquin Niemann. Mito Pereira and Sebastian Munoz are his teammates.

The caption of his post was heartfelt and expressive. He confessed how he had been waiting for this first professional win his whole life. He thanked his team and everyone who supported him. Puig iterated dreams do come true!

The 21-year-old thanked his mother, father, and Berta, mentioning their Instagram handles. He expressed his gratitude toward them for they have been standing by him since the beginning of his journey.

Berta had shared a picture from her profile earlier with Puig, celebrating their five-year anniversary, and had called him ‘best friend.’ Sounds like a relationship, but since she clearly used the word best friend, let’s not jump into assumptions.

However, let’s jump into the comments and see what his fellow LIV golfers have said about his much-awaited win.

From the Torque GC team, captain Joaquin Niemann and Mito Pereira have commented. Sebastian Munoz hasn’t commented yet. Niemann encouraged the young man to continue aspiring for greatness and wrote, “Keep dreaming 💪🔥” Taken out of context, (and in the absence of the emojis), the comment could sound like a taunt, but then we have context.

Pereira kept it light and teased his teammate, calling him “Grande tiooooo [meaning, Big guyyyyyy].”  Some other fellow LIV golfers also joined the conversation to appreciate the young man. Talor Gooch wrote “🔥🔥🔥” or perhaps we should say he added.

Graeme McDowell sounded quite professional and big brother-ish and wrote: “Great performance brother.” Another LIV golfer, Pablo Larrazabal, had quite a lot to say, and he wrote in Spanish, “Que grande eres Puigy… muchas felicidades y a disfrutar. Primera de muchas.”🏆 In English it means: “How great you are Puigy… congratulations and enjoy. First of many many.”

Greg Norman Jr. also stepped in to congratulate the young talent. He wrote a neat little “Congrats man!” Norman’s father, whom he shares his name with, is closely associated with LIV Golf, and it looks like the son also does his bit. With the fun mood on, the LIV Jeddah event will probably keep the energy and look more alive than ever before.
