After months of waiting, golf legend, John Daly, is making his much-anticipated return back to the game. The 56-year-old last played an event in October, after which he underwent extensive knee surgery and rehab. However, he’ll make his return on the PGA Tour Champions, not on the mainstream PGA Tour.

“Getting stronger each day working with my team! Can’t wait to be back! See y’all in Tuscon!” Daly replied to the tweet. His tweet sent fans into respite after the golfer’s ongoing medical issues, which has caused him to take a sabbatical from the game.

Nicknamed the ‘Wild Thing’, Daly has been playing at the PGA Tour Champions, a tournament for golfers above the age of 50. But having won two majors, the PGA Championship, and the British Open, he regularly tees at those tournaments. He missed cuts at both events in last year’s major championships.

But the veteran golfer has faced major setbacks in the last few years, most significantly, his battle with cancer.

Back in his early days on the tour, Daly was well-known for his extravagant diets, coupled with drinks and smokes, even at the course. His actions have been well-documented, which has caused problems throughout his life.

But the unhealthy lifestyle accumulated enough to diagnose Daly with bladder cancer. It became a cause of concern for his legion of fans, who wished him the best in the months to follow. While Daly was apprehensive of his condition, he vowed to make a comeback to the sport.

The golf legend’s knee surgery has added to his problems. Daly has undergone knee surgery before, but the recent one has been a full knee replacement, which took place on December 21.
