The CPKC Women’s Open concluded on Sunday, August 27. And we have a first-time winner. Maintaining her lead throughout, Megan Khang broke her trophy drought and scored her first LPGA victory. It took her 19 holes to mark the feat. And if she is happy, her fellow golfers are ecstatic about her win.
She had a one-hole playoff with South Korea’s Jin Young Ko. She entered the field with a three-shot lead, but her 2-over day placed her in front of Ko’s 3-under. And it led to a playoff with both of them sitting at 9-under. But, in an impressive showdown, Khang’s mates are celebrating her first win. And the golf world is delighted.

Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club also had many other players who graced the game with their top-notch skills. While Khang flew to the $2.5 Million title, they celebrated her flight. Many of them took to social media and congratulated the 25-year-old golfer. Nelly Korda and her sister, Jessica Korda, share a friendly bond with the American player.
The golf world’s darling posted Megan Khang’s LPGA picture in her Instagram story. “Couldn’t be happier!! Congratulations on your first win @megan_khang.”
And Jessica shared the same picture to express her happiness with “yayyayayya.”
Another player who joined the mix was the champion, Lydia Ko. She posted a snippet on her Instagram story. It was the winning moment when Megan Khang hugged her caddie. Then, all the players approached her with champagne bottles and emptied them on her to mark the victory.

Khang’s playing style often rebounds from bogeys and secures strong finishes. She has come a long way from her second round of triple bogeys. Her shot during the playoff moved straight up to the 18th fairway. And then she took the opportunity to score a long par putt, and Ko bogeyed the hole.
Fellow American players congratulating Megan Khang is a delightful sight. The team spirit is also a sneak peek into the upcoming Solheim Cup. The players in Spain will stick together and represent their country in a team format.
What next for the LPGA pros?
Megan Khang is taking $375,000 from the prize fund. She lifted her maiden trophy and marked the first win. The American player will carry the momentum to the upcoming Solheim Cup, where she will represent the American team.
The Solheim Cup begins on 22nd September in Finca Cortesin in Casares, Andalusia, Spain. Team America will face Team Europe, and both will try to win the 18th edition of the event for their respective countries.
Another player representing the US in Spain will be Nelly Korda. She was an automatic qualifier for the cup. However, her sister Jessica Korda, who has been missing in action since May, is on an entirely new journey.
