‘Covering Their B**ts’: Wife of Tiger Woods’ Former Caddie Once Valiantly Took Steve Williams’ Side During the Golf Legend’s Infamous Separation With Elin Nordegren

Tiger Woods may be enjoying the life of a king at the moment after all he’s achieved on the course. However, it’s been more than a decade since his scandalous relationships unfolded. The 15-time Major winner was massively criticized by the fans as well as fellow golfers for his actions. Among many who scrutinized the golfer also happen to be the wife of his long-time caddie, Steve Williams.

Williams was a caddie of Woods since 1999. Nonetheless, the duo decided to go separate ways a few years after Tiger’s extramarital affairs became public. In 2015, Williams decided to share his life through an autobiography named Out of the Rough.

As Woods’ scandal was widely criticized by the fans and media, several people also raised fingers towards others around Tiger who may have been aware of his secret. Williams, who claims he wasn’t one of the people who were aware of the dirty secret, was also brought into the circle of criticism.

Apart from the suffering he faced, the whole timeline of Tiger’s scandal was difficult for everyone around him too. This included his caddie at the time. Though Woods could have cleared Williams’ name off the list of people who were already aware of his secret, he didn’t do anything as such.

The caddie’s wife, Kirsty Williams, didn’t appreciate Tiger’s approach to the situation. Moreover, she let the 15-time Major winner know his mistake while speaking on a phone call with him. “While I appreciated that it would have been hard for him, I didn’t thank him for the call”, said Kirsty in the 17th chapter of her husband’s autobiography.

She added how she felt sorry for her friend, Elin Nordegren, who was betrayed by Woods. “Elin was and is a very good friend. I told him how upset I was about what he had done to Elin and the children”. Kirsty then told the golfer to clear her husband’s name in the media. She claimed to be “getting a lot of hate mail and the media were still hassling us”.

Williams’ wife said, “When he told me he couldn’t, I asked why not, and he told me that if he cleared Steve’s name, the media would start asking if anyone else knew, and they did, so basically he was covering their b**ts and letting Steve suffer”. Nonetheless, a few years later, Williams was sacked by Woods as a caddie.

Despite their 12-year partnership, the duo hasn’t been on proper terms. Moreover, the caddie revealed many more secrets about his former golfer. However, Williams did reveal recently that he would consider caddying for Woods once again if only the golfer asks for it.
