Ever since Elon Musk has bought over Twitter, he has faced controversy for his handling of the platform. He changed its name to X, and often posts tendentious content. Golf author Alan Shipnuck has now called out Elon Musk for this practice.

Alan Shipnuck has written nine books on golf, including the biography of golf legend Phil Mickelson, titled ‘Phil’. He tweeted from his official handle on X, bringing to Elon Musk’s attention what he called “pornbots”. Fans have reacted to this post in a humorous manner, while also slamming Musk.

What did Alan Shipnuck say to Elon Musk?

On October 22, the golf author said on X, “Yo @elonmusk, I’m not a prude but you attaching three pornbots in the comments of a boring post about golf feels a tad excessive.” It is not clear which original post Alan Shipnuck is talking about as he has not shared the link to that particular X post. But it seems a bot has been posting pornographic content as a reply to it.

However, fans of the author took it in their stride and have posted some funny comments to his latest tweet. “She’s just really turned on by your writing. I think it’s a compliment,” said a fan in jest. Another fan cracked a joke and said, “It’s the only reason I follow you.” Alan replied to the comment, saying, “Lol noted.”

A fan referred to the paid blue tick on X, and said, “That’s what you get for having a blue check.” Two other X users were not so kind to the owner of the social media platform. One said, “Elon can’t manage this platform. He’s ruining it.” Another user added, “Elon should’ve changed Twitter to only fans pregame it’s mostly porn and ads now”.

“At least it makes your post interesting,” quipped an X user. “I felt foolish after tapping on the first one. And something else when I tapped on the third and forth,” said an embarrassed fan, to which Alan replied, “Hahaha it’s all my fault.”

Another fan of the author tweeted, “Revenge for Phil ! Hahaha”. It was an obvious reference to the biographer’s controversy.

Controversial author back in the news

Last year, the author faced a problem when he was, as he claimed, “physically removed” from a press conference. This happened in June 2022 and the reason was that he had published Mickelson’s racist comments on Saudi Arabia.

“Well, a couple of neckless security dudes just physically removed me from Phil Mickelson’s press conference, saying they were acting on orders from their boss, whom they refused to name. (Greg Norman? MBS? Al Capone?) Never a dull moment up in here,” Alan had tweeted in 2022.

Then earlier this month, Shipnuck revealed through a book excerpt that it was Tiger Woods who garnered support to exclude Phil Mickelson from the Champions’ dinner in the lead-up to the Open Championship last year, shortly after Mickelson had moved to LIV Golf.

Elon Musk has not yet replied to the post by Alan Shipnuck. It remains to be seen if he notices the post and takes a jibe back at the author or not.
