2025 Cologuard Classic purse and winner’s payout
The Cologuard Classic has set its 2025 purse at $2.2 million. Notably, the champion takes home a substantial $330,000 winner’s share. This follows the standard 15 percent payout distribution for PGA Tour Champions events. The runner-up will receive $193,600, while third place earns $158,400.
As the 2025 Champions Tour season hits its fourth event, this prestigious tournament brings together 78 of golf’s most accomplished players. In addition, it includes eight past champions and 33 of the top 36 from last year’s Charles Schwab Cup standings.
This 78-player field will compete without a cut over three rounds from Friday through Sunday in line with the PGA Tour Champions format. The tournament distributes prize money according to the Champions Tour’s standardized formula, ensuring all participants receive a portion of the purse.
Points for the Charles Schwab Cup standings are also at stake, with each dollar earned translating directly into points toward qualifying for the year-end playoffs. Taking place at La Paloma Country Club from March 7-9, 2025, this tournament isn’t just about golf. This is about making a difference, particularly for those impacted by colorectal cancer. Over the years, this event has played a key role in supporting survivors and raising awareness.
But this time, they’re taking it up a level with “Birdies for Survivors.“ So, what is it? Every time a player birdies the par-4 15th hole, the tournament will donate $1,500 to sponsor a cancer survivor, covering their travel costs so they can attend the 2026 Cologuard Classic. It’s a simple yet powerful way to ensure more survivors and their loved ones can be part of this special event.

First-round leaders emerge as favorites at La Paloma
After an exciting first round at La Paloma Country Club, Greg Chalmers has stormed into the lead with a blistering 7-under 64. The Australian veteran carded eight birdies against just one bogey to establish himself as the early frontrunner for the $330,000 top prize. Chalmers’ precision with his irons and touch around the greens has made him the player to beat heading into the weekend.

Just two shots back, a trio of established Champions Tour stars are poised to challenge. Rod Pampling, Stephen Ames, and Ernie Els fired an impressive 5-under 66s to share second place. Currently leading the Charles Schwab Cup standings, Els continues his consistent form. Moreover, he looks particularly dangerous as he aims to add another trophy to his illustrious collection.
