Is Nelly Korda the greatest female golfer of our time, or does she still have more to prove?

Nelly Korda has been an invincible force when it comes to women’s golf. The headlines started brimming with her name, especially after she put on an extraordinary show this year. To begin with, she appeared in fifteen events and made the cut in twelve of them. Well, that is not all for the greatness. She also bagged seven wins throughout the season and bagged a whopping $4.2 million in 2024, which is the highest number of times a player has won throughout. Additionally, Nelly Korda has been No. 1 in the Race to the CME Globe standings since January, and just a few weeks ago, was named the Rolex Player of the Year.

With being invited to the Met gala and becoming the first athlete of the SI Swimsuit edition magazine 2025, the feathers added to her hat are just uncountable. However, she has yet to end 2024 with a bang. She will be entering the showdown at the 2024 CME Group Tour Championship in just a few hours. Now, will she be able to win the ultimate battle too, only time will tell. But before that, let us walk down memory lane and visit the best moments she has had at the Tiburón Golf Club.

On November 18, 2023, during the third round of the CME Group Tour Championship, Nelly Korda achieved her first career ace on the LPGA Tour. Using a 9-iron, Korda executed a perfect shot on the par-3 8th hole, spanning 148 yards. The achievement was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd and a celebratory high-five with her caddie. This milestone was especially meaningful as it marked her second hole-in-one, with her first occurring 14 years earlier when she was just 11 years old. The shot also triggered a $20,000 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as part of the CME Group Cares Challenge. The iconic golfer made her first ever hole-in-one when she was 11 years old. The young prodigy achieved the feat using a 7-iron while playing golf with her father somewhere in Orlando. And now, she was able to recreate the same after fourteen years.

2. Nelly Korda’s father cheering her up at the 2020 CME Group Tour Championship

Nelly Korda ended up injuring her back at the 2020 KPMG Women’s LPGA Championship back in October. Her back went into spasm, and she had to take her time off the field. She made sure she had enough time before she started swinging again, and returned almost after two months for the US Women’s Open in Houston in December. However, she ended up missing the cut, scoring 73 in the first two rounds. She stated that she was not feeling it, and shifted her entire focus to the CME Group Championship.

After a rough start at 2-over through her first 11 holes on Thursday, she has rebounded impressively, playing her last 25 holes at 7-under to surge up the leaderboard and placed firmly into contention. However, her father was behind the rope cheering for her, and that was what changed everything for her. “It was nice to roll in some putts,” she said. “I wasn’t putting too well (Thursday), but my dad — behind the fence — saw me putt on the putting green after my round and helped me out a little bit.”

3. Nelly Korda ties for the lead at the 2021 CME Group Tour Championship

After the third round at the 2021 CME Group Tour Championship, Nelly Korda was almost close to grabbing her first victory at the Tiburon Golf Course. She entered the final round in Ritz Carlton Golf Resort, with three others tied for the first position along with her. Jin Young Ko was one of them, and they were the only two who could grab the win. Ko ended up carding seven consecutive birdies on the front nine before she made a three-putt on the ninth hole and scored a bogey. However, nine straight pars towards the back nine grabbed her the victory, and Korda finished at T5.

She even went on to high-five her fans, acknowledging their congratulations, as they all stood up and cheered for her. Among them was also her sister Jessica Korda, who was pregnant at that time. The moment the ball landed in the hole, she ran towards Nelly Korda and gave her a huge high five.

5. Nelly Korda’s best finish at the CME Group Tour Championship
