“I feel like my vote and role is utterly superfluous,” said a fed-up Jimmy Dunne in his statement as he resigned from his role on the PGA Tour Policy Board. The golf world was surprised, to say the least, with many reacting on the internet. Among them was a LIV golfer—Anthony Kim, who also took to his social media handle to comment on the resignation.

However, Kim’s words were perceived wrongly, and the LIV golfer gave clarification for them through another update on his X handle (formerly Twitter), calling out the “clown reporting” that was made on his initial tweet, which made a pun out of Dunne’s name. The 38-year-old expressed his respect for the ex-PGA Tour Board member as well as dishing out a jab against Brandel Chamblee!

“I wanna be clear that I did not mean any disrespect towards jimmy dunne but was making a joke after reading a few headlines this am,” divulged the 38-year-old in a new post captioned; “Clown reporting so I wanna clarify my tweets.” He did so to shed light on the tweet that he had earlier uploaded, which read, “Good morning having my coffee and read that jimmy is DUNNE.”

The professional also expressed his appreciation for the former Board member while highlighting the efforts he had put in for the sport: “I have more than a few mutual friends with jimmy know he stuck his neck out there to help unite the game with nothing to gain.” Dunne became part of the board in January 2023 and was one of the key individuals behind the PGA Tour’s merger with PIF by helping out in negotiating the agreement with the Saudi Fund. Thus, Anthony Kim didn’t shy away from expressing the high regard he had for the investment banker when he said, “I have tremendous respect for everything he has accomplished and wish him well.”

When he was dishing out praise for Dunne, the 2008 AT&T National Champion had some not-so-kind words for Brandel Chamblee as well. The golfer pointed out how he meant exactly what he said in his previous posts about the reporter for changing his stance on the PIF merger. Following the same, Kim said, “Ramble is entitled to his opinion and I have no problem w it but I stand on every word I said as he has taken shots at multiple people with much higher accolades. He also spoke about how I’m raising my daughter & don’t think he should be giving advice because I know being present is something he knows nothing about.”

It truly was a long chain of bickering that took place between the LIV golfer and the reporter, who has many times taken jibes at professionals including the likes of Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm, among others. It was because of his previous actions that highlighted his dislike for the Saudi investment into the sport that Kim made the tweet which called him out on X.

“Ur such a p***y 4 beating on ur chest & basically saying never retreat & hypocritically retreat,” accused Anthony Kim of Chamblee when he sided with Rory McIlroy and pointed out the need for a merger, unlike his older stance. That’s not all. The LIV Golf Pro even went ahead to call him a “talentless fool” who is “disliked by most people in the golf world.”

As a result, the 61-year-old issued his own response, mentioning how he has always had a strong dislike for PIF and the Saudis and would continue to do so: “I don’t think the Saudis are going to turn away from the game and they will continue to be a poaching threat and dilute the product of the PGA Tour.” But this didn’t move the 3-time PGA Tour champ one bit, as he also disclosed how he’ll continue to call it as he sees it.

With the recent post, it seems the tussle will not see an end anytime soon. Well, the fans can only wait and watch as the golf world finds itself embroiled in controversies and altercations between the two sides.
