The Honda Classic 2023 witnessed a recent rise of a star in the playoff. The PGA Tour pro Chris Kirk is back to the greens with an incredible win on the grounds of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. Apart from his victory; he is trending on the internet for a reason behind his long-awaited success. After taking an indefinite break in 2019, Chris Kirk returned with a blast and honestly revealed why he had achieved his latest milestone. Giving all the credit to the support, he revealed the truth. Dylan Dethier, the Golf magazine writer, praised the PGA Tour pro for his enthusiastic approach to preventing alcoholism. He took a long break from professional golf to get help to fight alcoholism successfully. And after mastering control over it, he proved his worth at the Honda Classic. Kirk defeated Eric Cole for the title on Sunday with a birdie on the opening hole of a playoff after sticking his approach to the par-5 18th into tap-in range.

The PGA Tour also posted a snippet of Kirk talking about his struggles. He expressed his gratitude and said, “I owe everything that I have in my entire life to my sobriety. I wouldn’t be doing this for a living anymore. I probably wouldn’t have the family that I have currently anymore.” He further discussed the losses and said, “I came really close to losing everything that I cared about, and so for that to have happened and worked out for me.” And he thanked god, “but mostly the grace of god and a lot of other people that really helped me along the way.”
Chris Kirk has been open about his battle with alcohol. Took an indefinite leave in May 2019 to get help. Said he got control of his life — and his game has followed. Really cool to see it rewarded with a win.

The former number 16 golfer of 2015 said that winning the event was a bonus. After many long years, things are finally working out for him. And the Honda Classic is the cherry on the cake.
