“We are incredibly proud of the tournament’s ongoing tradition of creating opportunities for elite amateur players, and we are honored to welcome them to The Club at Carlton Woods later this month,” said Laura Lane, Chevron’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. The great initiative from one of the most prestigious women’s tournaments is definitely offering the opportunity of a lifetime. Being the first major championship of the LPGA Tour, it has continued to promote the rich history of women’s golf. Now, with the 2025 season too, the tournament has extended support for 8 amateur-level golfers to experience the prestigious event.

Carla Bernat Escuder

The 21-year-old Spaniard has shown a glimpse of her outstanding performance in 2024, where she won the MountainView Collegiate and the Powercat Invitational. Following that, she even won the Spirit International in Texas. But with her 2025 calendar year, she has achieved an exceptional feat. Just before the Chevron Championship, she became the first woman to win the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, beating Asterisk Talley by one stroke. She even became the first golfer to record three rounds in the 60s in ANWA history.

With such substantial performance, she has been invited to compete against the world’s top golfers at the historic Chevron Championship.

Clarisa Temelo

The Mexican amateur, Clarisa Temelo, has shown an exceptional feat in front of the legendary golfer Annika Sorenstam. In 2024, Temelo secured a six-stroke victory at the Women’s Amateur Latin America Championship (WALA) presented by the R&A and the ANNIKA Foundation at Lima Golf Club in Peru.  With her presence as an amateur since 2021, she has been close to the victory, but couldn’t seal it. However, with her final appearance in 2024, Temelo has found her rhythm. Even at the 2025 season’s first Puerto Rico Women’s Classic, she was placed solo third.

What’s your perspective on:

Can these amateur golfers outshine the pros at the Chevron Championship, or is it just a dream?

Have an interesting take?

Following her excellent form, she found a way to participate among the best golfers at the LPGA Tour major.

Jeneath Wong

The next amateur who secured her place at the Chevron Championship is Jeneath Wong. In the 10th week of the 2025 schedule, she won the Women’s Amateur Asian-Pacific Championship. With the tough battle against Soomin Oh and Sumin Hong, she consistently delivered a great performance, achieving three rounds of under-par 68. The victory helped her secure a tied ninth position in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Chayse Gomez

The Oregon State University graduate has ended her five-year collegiate career with a scoring average of 73. Being the second-best in Oregon State history, she then joined Cal State Fullerton in 2024-25 as an Assistant Coach. For the Chevron Championship, her highest placing as a senior helped in securing a place. Even in the 2024 schedule, she has two 10 finishes, including Cheron Silverado Showdown (5) and NCAA DI Bermuda Run Regional (7).

Asterisk Talley

Talley, after her win at the Annika Invitational in Florida, secured a place in three USGA championship final matches. She became the first to compete at the final matches in the same year. But the 16-year-old had tough luck with her performance at the 2024 US Girls Junior and US Women’s Amateur. She finishes runner-up at the two. However, despite that, she has managed to find a place through replacement in the eight amateur field to be a part of the Chevron Championship. She comes in the place of the US Women’s Amateur Champion Rianne Malixi, who withdrew due to injury.

Lottie Woad

The English professional has been earning praise for her performance for a long time. Lottie Woad was praised by Amanda Balionis after her victory at the 2022 Girls Amateur Championship. Balionis said, “World Number 1 doing World Number 1 things.” Continuing her wins, Woad in 2024 won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and secured her place on the list of amateurs at the Chevron.

Jasmine Koo

Apart from the six golfers, Jasmine Koo gets a sponsor exemption to the rising star at the sport. She was part of the roster last year as well, where she finished tied 13th. But apart from her participation, she has been showcasing great skill in the course. Koo won the Toyota Junior World Cup, Windy City Collegiate Classic, and Stanford Intercollegiate in 2024. Even continuing the new season, she has already won the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate.

Gianna Clemente

The 2024 AJGA Girls Player of the Year has had multiple top 10 finishes in her career. She was paired with Lottie Woad at the Augusta National, which was won by Woad. Now with the sponsor exemption, she is the final player from the amateur list to feature in the season’s first major of the LPGA Tour, the Chevron Championship.

Teeing off from April 24, along with the top golfers of the world, the best amateur will also be showcasing their talents at the Carlton Woods, Texas. But it will be interesting to see if any amateur can give competition to the professionals? What are your thoughts on it? Share with us in the comments below.
