So what we all can rely on the golf fans is the fact that they will make themselves loud and clear no matter what and funny enough. That was exactly the case with Bradbury with the latest controversy surrounding the golfer. Fans were on to the golfer and one said, “Clearly anchoring,” while another fan said, “That’s anchoring 😂 1000%”. So, what is anchoring? Well, it occurs when you hold the club against your body or brace it with your arm. This creates an unfair advantage and changes the swing, forcing it to be prohibited.

Yes, in 2016, the USGA and R&A introduced a ban on anchored strokes in golf, which was applied to all strokes, not just putting. The purpose of the prohibition ensure the club can swing freely and eliminate the advantage that anchoring provides. But as we have already established, Bradbury refused to agree he used the techniques citing his baggy t-shirt. However, the fans were ready to call out the golfer on that as well as this fan said, “Shirt looks pretty darn tight to me”, while another said, “He may not know what baggy means,” taking a jab at the player.

The golfer wore a blue shirt that looked fairly tight to the fans despite saying, “I wear baggy shirts, it’s allowed to touch your shirt that’s absolutely fine”. While many fans pointed out the fault in his putting, this one fan suggested a rule that should be implied in golf matches.

“They should just make a rule that the putter must be the shortest club in the bag,” said the fan, and well, this may eliminate the struggles with anchoring for good. So, what do you think? Did Bradbury use anchoring to win the tournament? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
