Charlie Woods is currently the MVP of the PNC Championship. After his incredible golfing display at the last year’s family event, fans across the world have been looking forward to watching the 13-year-old in Orlando this weekend. To become the best golfer, one needs to have good assistance at his bag and read his lines. While Tiger Woods filled in that role for his junior events, the young Woods will have someone familiar as his caddie for him this week.

‘Keep it in the family;’ This seems to be the motto the team Woods follow in the unofficial Champions Tour event. Because, like his father, Charlie Woods will have a LaCava family member on his bag at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.

PNC Championship is a 36-hole family tournament where former major or PLAYERS champions play with one of their family members. And to keep the tradition of the event going, Tiger Woods found his caddie Joe LaCava’s son, Joseph LaCava Jr., to caddy for his son.

Notably, Charlie and Tiger started playing in the Champions Tour event in 2020. And since then, Joe LaCava jr. has been caddying for him. According to a Golf Digest report, a trusted confidante of the 15-time-major champion revealed that it was Tiger’s idea to bring his caddie’s son to the scene.

“There is one fun nugget that Tiger mentioned to me a number of months ago when he was kind of debating whether or not they would play in the PNC this year(2020),” he said. “‘(Woods) said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun if I had Joe LaCava Jr. caddie for Charlie?'” he added.

And this year too, they kept the tradition. LaCava jr. was caddying for Charlie during the PNC Championship pro-am this week and will continue to carry his bag on Saturday and Sunday.

Has Joe LaCava jr. ever caddied for any professional players?

According to golf.com, Joe LaCava jr. had little experience in caddying before joining team Woods in 2020. And after watching him doing an exceptional job at it, Tiger’s longtime friend, Fred Couples once borrowed him to carry his bag.

“I talked to my dad,” LaCava jr. said while caddying for Couples at the 2022 Mitsubishi Electric Classic. “And when I walked the course the other day, he gave me some good knowledge,” he added. “He’s been helping out when he can.”

The Woods-duo with LaCava-duo on their bag improved a lot more from their previous season (7) when they finished second in 2021. Do you think they can win the event this year with their consistency and the same team?
