If you’re looking at Charley Hull, you have to give a nod to both her on-greens and off-greens performance. But she has been suffering a winless streak as her last win came at the 2022 Volunteers of America Classic. In the current season, she started with T19 at the 2025 Founders Cup, and the fans expected it to get better. Did it? Well, slightly with her T4 finish at the HSBC Women’s World Championship. However, it dipped once again at the Ford Championship (T11) before getting even worse at the T-Mobile Match Play (missed cut). We are heading into another LPGA major in a month, however, Charley Hull seems just fine! Why do we say that?

Well, look at her Instagram updates for an answer! If there’s one thing that can keep Hull entertained and energized despite a series of losses, it’s her workout routines. And, of course, runs. In her latest Instagram story, the golfer updated her fans about a 4.40-mile run with the caption, “😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 Steady flush out run in the sun round the lake.” Interestingly, Hull finished this run in 39 minutes and 1 second. And what’s even cooler is her running speed. Hull maintained an average pace of 8 minutes and 52 seconds per mile. According to the app, with this run, Hull set the 2nd fastest time in 5k. This is interesting, as one of Hull’s goals this year is to shave 6 minutes off her 5k time, according to her it’s “around 26 minutes at the moment.” Is she closer to her goal? Yes!

But that doesn’t seem enough for Charley Hull, as in the next story, she announced “done” and captioned it “sweat suit and running jacket.” After that, she made another Instagram update with a bunch of solid workout mentions! Updating her fans with a picture of herself, she added: “Now 500m row. 15 KB swings. 6 devil press. 3 rounds, 40 sec wall sit 90 degrees. 15 goblet squats 15kg. Rest 90 secs then back in.” Whew! Now that’s what you call dedication. However, the star golfer is known for her love for exercise, a fact pretty obvious with her constant workout updates.

For instance, ahead of the Ford Championship, she was preparing for her usual early workout routine. During a rigorous treadmill session on Wednesday, Hull pushed herself so hard that she bled through her sock and shoe! But what did she do? She shared photos of the incident on Instagram with the caption, “Bled through shoe 😂 No pain, no gain.” Despite the worries of the fan, Hull seemed quite pleased with her 10k time of 53 minutes and 22 seconds. However, as uplifting and fun as these updates are, her performance at the T-Mobile Match Play was a disappointment. And just over a month away from the next women’s major, U.S. Women’s Open, Charley Hull’s on-green performances in majors are worrying.

Charley Hull and the curse of close finishes in the LPGA majors

Let’s start with the most recent one in the 2023 AIG Women’s Open. Then, Charley Hull maintained her strong performance in 2023 with a runner-up finish at the AIG Women’s Open, where she was in contention to win. She co-led the event going into the final round alongside Lilia Vu but struggled on the last day, finishing with a score of +1 to end at -8 for the tournament. Lilia Vu, on the other hand, made an easy win with a score of -5 for the day, finishing at -14 overall.

Before that, we had the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open. Then, Charley Hull was in contention after scoring 73, 72, and 71 in the first three rounds. Hull made a strong comeback with an impressive 66 on the final day, finishing at -6 for the round on a challenging course. However, she ultimately placed T2, finishing three strokes behind the winner, Allisen Corpuz.

And her first came in the 2016 season at the ANA Inspiration, the year’s first major championship. Despite not being among the favorites, she was impressed with her performance, finishing the event at -11. Hull started with a score of 70 and improved her scores to 69 in the subsequent three rounds, ultimately placing T2, just one stroke behind the leader, Lydia Ko.

Outside this, of course, she has had other losses in other LPGA tournaments as well. For instance, a last moment defeat came last month at the HSBC Women’s World Championship. She started out the final round strong, just one shot behind the leader, Lydia Ko. However, by the end of it, Hull had a score of 74. She ended up finishing T4. Inarguably, Charley Hull is strong in the gym–but fans still hope for a solid performance from the golfer with another major so close.
