Rose and Thorn. This is what the power duo Georgia Hall and Charley Hull have decided to name their team at the Dow Championship this year around. It’s amusing, right? Well, brace yourselves, because the origin story of this striking name is even more amusing!

In a press conference at the Midland Country Club, Hull and Hall revealed that this name originated from their interaction with Ryan Evans. When asked to describe them in a word, Evans chose to draw an unthinkable and borderline funny euphemism. He said, “Georgia, you’re like the lovely English rose, and Charley, you’re like the thorn,” thus giving birth to the Rose and Thorn team name.

But it seems there is only positivity when this Hull-Hall team-up steps afoot, and that’s exactly what they have conveyed through their skilled perception of Evans’s words. Georgia Hall was quick to intercept and tell how she envisioned this team name: “There’s lots of thorns around the rose, so you protect me, don’t you?”

A fact that Charley Hull soon affirmed. Talking about their walk-up song, the duo turned into singers and sang Saweetie’s masterpiece and blockbuster song, Best Friend, a lyrical anecdote perfectly characterizing their unique camaraderie.

This is not the first time Hull’s communicable optimism and magical personality took over and left fans enchanted. Her last appearance at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was not short of magical moments. An unforgettable one was when Hull went on to sign a fan’s cigarette dart upon request, strengthening her place as one of the most entertaining figures in women’s golf. But why is Charley Hull perceived as so relatable?

What makes Charley Hull so relatable?

The 28-year-old has more than her good looks and great on-course skills to thank for her reliability. Yes, it’s her persona. Despite being at the peak of her career, Hull never shies away from presenting a vulnerable, candid side to her loyal fans.

First, there is the smoking. Despite having an extremely healthy lifestyle, the English pro golfer’s easy manner and authenticity are what make her so relatable. While smoking is not good for one’s health, the way Hull sports a cigarette is what makes her perfectly imperfect and a fan favorite. To top it all off, she has started smoking because she is trying to quit vaping! This makes her a little too much relatable, we guess!

Then comes her willingness to remain vulnerable. Her recent admission of her struggles with ADHD inspired and made a large section of fans with similar struggles feel heard. She also went on to share how she manages to stay on top of her career while living with ADHD. What helps Hull is taking proactive self-care steps to manage her health. This includes incorporating important tasks into her daily routine, prioritizing exercise, and having a dedicated time slot to focus on herself.
