Charley Hull’s name rings out in women’s golf, making her a headline magnet. Remember her puffing on a cigarette during the US Women’s Open last May in Lancaster? The picture went viral and so did her response to the controversy where she stated, “Not really what I was expecting, but I guess it shows that any publicity is good publicity.” Ok, case on point. Last month she claimed that banning all social media platforms would help people live in the moment. While the intention behind the statement was sincere, it did receive polarizing attention from her fans who pointed to her own huge following, frequent postings on her social media handles, and the previous statement.

But that wasn’t all that the LPGA golfer wanted to say. Yesterday, Hull said something else that has divided the golf world. During a press conference for PIF Saudi Ladies International, Hull said, “I don’t train for golf. I have zero interest in training for golf. I think golf training is a load of rubbish.” That’s indeed a pretty bold statement, considering a lot of female golfers have consistently placed their trust on golf training.

While Hull is getting backlash from the golfing world and fans alike, LPGA pro, Jenny Shin, has backed her statement by agreeing with the 2x times LPGA Tour winner. In an Instagram story, Jenny posted a screenshot of Golf Digest’s article tackling the same subject and said, “IT REALLY IS RUBBISH.

But, then again, if not this, then what kind of workout routine does Hull place her trust in?

The workout routine that keeps Charley Hull healthy

Surely, Hull did not make the statements in vain. In the same press conference, Hull stated, “I want to try and get my 5K run time down to 20 minutes by the end of the year,” and added that her current time is 26 minutes. On that note, let’s take a quick look at her routine.

Have an interesting take?

On the second day of PIF Saudi Ladies International, Charley Hull shared a story on her Instagram handle with the caption: Another day at the office done. Hull divided her workout routine into two parts: ‘Before Golf,’ and ‘After Golf.’ Before hitting the course, she had a 5k run for cardiovascular fitness. After finishing the games, Hull did 5 sets of chest presses and bench-over rows, 10 reps each, to maintain upper body strength.

Then, Hull did 4 rounds of seated cable rows (8 reps) and press-ups (10 reps), focusing on her back and upper body. She followed it with a 10-minute EMOM session, alternating between 10 double dumbbell thrusters and 10 burpees for full-body conditioning and cardio. To cool herself down, Hull did a 3.5 km row. Charley places a lot of focus on her health, and it’s no wonder her workout routine looks so rigorous.

Despite her healthy routine, fans are divided over her statements. But hey, everyone’s got their own approach when it comes to training. Take Ernest Jones, and you will understand Hull is not the only one with offbeat golfing opinions. His unique approach to teaching golf emphasizes the importance of the mental and physical aspects of the game. He focused on “swinging the club” rather than just hitting the ball. While this approach has generated plenty of polarizing opinions throughout the years, it is needless to say that Jones has influenced a lot of golfers, and golfing instructors, including the legendary Ben Hogan.

But, coming back to our stars, Hull and Shin have stated their opinion on golf training and how they approach it, what do you think of it? Share your ideas with us in the comment section!
