The nightmare continues for the English golfer! It has been more than 2 years since Charley Hull last won an LPGA Tour event. She nearly broke her losing streak a few hours ago. It seemed that she would until the end of the penultimate round, being only 1 stroke away from Lydia Ko.
But the final round nerves got to her and she went 2-over par 74 to finish 4th in the 2025 HSBC Women’s World Championship. Ko, who is much more familiar with the pressure of the last rounds, kept her cool and secured the win.
Still, it was a tough contest. As Ko herself admitted in her post-win press conference, “Yeah, it’s nerve-wracking but it’s also exciting. It’s not every week we get to contend, and obviously our goal is to be in contention more and more often.” It’s evident that she too was tense about having Hull breathing down her neck as she was working towards her 23rd LPGA Tour title.

There was someone who had more than just kind words towards Hull. As someone commented “Very tough course and even tougher opponents. Extremely proud of your performance Charley, not much you could have done to win, with the way Lydia was playing, and her putting was almost flawless. Nothing to be ashamed of. Great tournament 😍😍😍😍” This shows that Hull’s performance did stand out despite the exemplary show from Ko.
To be fair, Charley Hull did make most of her peers sweat for the first 54 holes. Had she continued to form, she would have definitely won the 2025 HSBC Women’s World Championship. Wouldn’t you agree?
