The past Sunday saw the golf world on the edge of its seats as the Kroger Queen City Championship reached its climax. The event witnessed a close competition of sorts as Charley Hull fell short of the crown once again, leaving her in second place.

But even so, Hull has not managed to let it hamper her confidence as she looks forward to the upcoming Solheim Cup. Moreover, the golfer could not contain her excitement about being able to play in the prestigious event, but even more so with her “favorite player.”

The tournament saw top LPGA golfers duke it out on the course for the cut of $2 million. Hull missed out on the win through a playoff hole after tying for first place with Minjee Lee. Nevertheless, the English professional picked herself up and moved on as she set her eyes on the Solheim Cup where she is led by Europe team captain Suzann Petterson.

In the post-match interview, the 27-year-old was all praise for Pettersen as she pointed out how great she is as a skipper. Adding to her response, the 2x LPGA Tour winner said, “She’s one of my favorite players ever to play the game, so it’s pretty cool,” while expressing her desire to play with the Norwegian professional.

The 2016 CME Group Tour Championship winner also mentioned how she is looking forward to the biennial event when asked about her confidence levels. The golfer went ahead to reveal how she would be “looking forward to doing some work next week” with her coach, all the while finding credence in herself.

Nevertheless, the professional can only hope she can break past her unlucky streak to come out with a win the next time around. Meanwhile, one can’t help but become curious at the performance that she managed to dish out in the event leading her to fall short of the crown yet again.

The English professional managed to score a 16-under 272, propelling her past the field of golfers to the top spot where she tied with Lee. The duo went ahead to break the bind through playoff holes, where both the golfers finished the first circle with pars leading them to the second one on the 18th once more.

Hull couldn’t grab the chance for a birdie while the Australian golfer managed to do so, sealing her ninth LPGA Tour victory.

It has been a bumpy year of sorts for the 3X LET winner as her last victory came in 2022 at the Volunteers of America Classic. The victory was followed by a total of nine top-10 finishes out of which she boasts four runner-up placements in the past two years. Despite everything, Hull has managed to move forward with a strong mindset in her tournaments with a lot of confidence.
