The day 3 singles matches chart has been generating discussions all around. The hottest duel of the lot is likely to be the Nelly Korda vs Carlota Ciganda match. After the chart was shared online by the LPGA, the elder Korda sister, who is on a break due to pregnancy, had something to say about the duel.

In her tweet, Jessica Korda wrote, “Carlota having an awesome Solheim in her home country, I do love her passion. I also loved getting to play her.” As Carlota Ciganda is about to play against Jessica’s sister, it’s nice that she chose to compliment the rival before the battle began.

Carlota Ciganda has been the flag-bearer for the Europe team so far in the Solheim Cup 2023. She has put up an amazing performance with her partners and has won all three matches she has played in the tournament so far. Considering the first session was a wipe-off for the home team on Friday, her win in the second session was a breath of fresh air.

The elder Korda has quite a history with the Spanish golfer in the Solheim Cup. They have had some fierce encounters and have been quite a match for each other in talent and spirit. The two have never been in a singles match, however. They have only played against each other in pairs. Here is a summary of their matches from the Solheim Cup events of the past.

Jessica Korda and her past battles with Carlota Ciganda

Jessica Korda has faced Carlota Ciganda thrice in the Solheim Cup, in paired matches. In 2019, Jessica Korda faced the Ciganda and Bronte Law pair twice in the paired rounds. Once she had Lexi Thompson on her side, and the other time it was her sister Nelly Korda.

Thompson and Jessica halved the match against Ciganda and Law. Later the Korda sisters won the match against Ciganda and Law with a 6-and-5 score. Carlota Ciganda, however, took her revenge in the subsequent 2021 Solheim Cup.
