Even if there is something that can go extremely wrong in a major, it cannot surpass the dread of not having one’s golf bag with them. The British sensation Charley Hull has specifically fallen victim to such a fate only days before her 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, which is about to kick off on June 20th.
How did Charley Hull lose her golf bag?
The fourth major of the season will be held at Sahalee Country Club in Washington, and the golfer was flying there on British Airlines. Hull found herself without the most crucial thing for her destination: her golf bag as she landed at her destination. She was shocked not to be able to track her belongings, as any golfer naturally would.

Despite making several inquiries, Charley Hull could not find her golf bag. A crestfallen Hull thus chose to reach out to the authorities of British Airlines further through her social media. She shared a story where she wrote, “Thanks to BA for losing my golf bag on route to a major. Have no luck trying to track it. @british_airways please can you help?”
Hull has given no further update about whether she could retrieve her belongings from the airline. She is yet to win her first major, and losing the golf bag en route to one will ultimately surmount considerable mental pressure. Above all, how is a golfer supposed to play without a golf bag that is meticulously curated for her? This will certainly put Hull in a tough spot on the greens of Sahalee Country Club, which is famous for its narrow fairways.
Getting the equipment and adapting to it in such a short time is also concerning. Charley Hull has a TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver in her bag. Her golf bag also included a TaylorMade Qi10 Tour three wood with a Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue 75 S shaft for her fairway wood. Each of them is priced at $629.99 and $449.99, respectively. For her 3-irons, Hull has been using the TaylorMade SIM Max Rescue hybrid, which retails for $249.99.

Moreover, Hull uses the Nippon N.S. Pro Modus 3 125 S shafted 4-PW TaylorMade P7MB irons, which cost $1,399.99. The golf bag also had TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 wedges and TaylorMade TP Soto HydroBlast putters that retail for $179.99 and $169.99, respectively. With her TaylorMade TP5x golf balls priced at $44.99, Hull is at a loss of $3124.93. However, this is not the first time that a golfer has suffered such a tense situation at the hands of an airline, and that too before such an important event.

Only last year, Danielle Kang was also found in a similar situation ahead of her 2023 Solheim Cup participation. Except for her putter, which she always carries with her in a rifle case, she lost 13 of her other golf equipment in transit. She later called it an “adventure” as her golf clubs were last documented in Amsterdam.

She later stated, “If it wasn’t a dramatic entrance, it wouldn’t be my life, so it’s O.K. It’s all good. My captain, Stacy, has been absolutely incredible. The entire U.S. team has been helping me. Everyone’s on top of it. They have been tracking my bag to Vegas to Amsterdam. My sponsor Titleist is making up a second set. That’s flying in temporarily tonight, and then Ping has made me a temporary set today that I got to play with, so we can at least test out the golf course.”
Hull finished at T19 at Lancaster, a venue that tested the best of the golfers. If Hull is unable to retrieve her lost bag, we are sure her sponsors will swoop in with replacement equipment fo the major!
